Division of Indian Work Headquarters Building

Minneapolis, Minnesota

This building, completed in 1993, houses offices, social service and education programs and a food distribution center. The building incorporates symbols of local Tribal Groups, such as fish, turtles and dragonflies. The moon symbolically works its way from a crescent form at the main entry to a full moon/drum shaped space in the Dakota Lodge. A sunken hearth anchors the Lodge thus respecting the sacred Earth.
